Singlife Philippines (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is fully committed to protect your privacy.  We will protect your Personal Data in compliance with this Privacy Policy (the "Policy"), the Philippines' Data Privacy Act of 2012 and its Implementing Rules and Regulations ("'DPA").  This Policy shall cover, among others, what types of Personal Data we collect and process, how we handle your Personal Data, and what your rights are in relation to such Personal Data.

By accessing our website, using our application, or availing of any of our products and services, you hereby consent to our processing of your Personal Data. Processing includes but is not limited to, the collection, recording, organization, storage, updating or modification, retrieval, consultation, use, consolidation, blocking, erasure or destruction of Personal Data.

“Personal Data” refers to any personal information or even sensitive and privileged information, in any form, from which your identity is apparent or can be reasonably and directly ascertained by the entity holding the information, or when put together with other information would directly and certainly identify you. Personal data which we may collect includes but is not limited to the following:

  • Name, birthdate, age, gender, nationality
  • Contact information (email address, telephone number, mobile phone number)
  • Home or Business Address and mailing address
  • Specimen signatures
  • Government ID details
  • Occupation, financial information and sources of income
  • Card or Bank details (if selected for your payment methods)
  • Health declaration, height, weight and other underwriting information requirements
  • All other information provided to us by answering our surveys or questionnaires and by participating in our promotional campaigns or marketing activities
  • Directly from you, your family members, associates or beneficiaries of products and services;
  • Directly from you on behalf of another person/s as you are duly authorized by said person/s to disclose their Personal Data and receive any information regarding our privacy policies on this person’s or persons’ behalf;
  • Information generated about you when you use our products and services;
  • Brokers or other intermediaries whom we work with to provide you our products or services;
  • Our partners or affiliates and third parties we are dealing with (i.e. vendors, other financial institutions, medical facilities or institutions, courts, government agencies/bodies, etc.);
  • Cookies, location services, IP addresses when you visit our website or use our mobile app, or when you fill up forms, surveys or questionnaires within our website or app; and
  • Other sources such as Fraud Prevention Agencies, Credit Reference Agencies, other lenders, publicly available directories and information (for example, telephone directory, social media, internet, news articles), debt recovery and/or tracing agents, other organisations to assist in prevention and detection of crime, police and law enforcement agencies.

The enumaration above is non-exhaustive and sets out some common instances of when personal data about you may be collected.

  • Process your transactions with us, including but not limited to: evaluating your application, responding and acting on your queries or requests, conducting policy issuance and delivery, paying out premiums or refunds, adjudicating claims, and maintaining your account;
  • To enforce our Terms of Service, or any applicable customer policies or agreements, including investigating any actual or suspected violations thereof;
  • To prevent or investigate any actual or suspected unlawful, improper, or fraudulent act or omission, relating to your use of our products and/or services, our website, app, other platform, or any other matter arising from your relationship with us;
  • Comply with domestic and/or foreign laws and regulations, directives or guidelines issued by competent authorities, regulatory or supervisory bodies, courts, and enforcement agencies applicable to us and to our parent company, subsidiaries, and affiliates (“Group”);
  • For identification, verification, screening, due diligence, know your customer and other related purposes;
  • Conduct data analytics, profiling, historical and scientific research that will be used(1) to develop, enhance and offer you financial products and services which would be suitable to your needs; (2) to determine the optimal marketing channels through which we offer you these products and services, (3) to improve our customer experience; (4) to improve our internal systems and processes; (5) to make pricing more effective in actuarial assumptions; (6) to support internal and external management reporting; and (7) to develop business strategies and attain business-related company goals;
  • Enter into reinsurance transactions, as may be applicable;
  • Help the Company in risk management, identity verification, and protection against fraud;
  • Comply with policies and procedures applicable within our Group;
  • To protect the rights and property of others; and
  • For marketing and advertising purposes, particularly to send you promotional materials or information relating to any of our products and/or services (including, products and/or services of our related parties and/or other third parties with whom we may partner or tie up with), which we may send via various modes/channels such as through mail, e-mail, SMS, other messaging services, or call. We’ll share your Personal Data within our Group, our financial/health business partners, and third party service providers (including but not limited to our reinsurers, lawyers, bankers, accountants, financial institutions, trustees and other third party service providers who provide administrative, telecommunications, computer, payment, printing, redemption or other services to us), medical bill review companies, claims investigations companies, industry associations and federations, your joint policy or investment holder, professional advisors, researchers, credit reference agencies, debt collection agencies, financial/health institutions and partnerships for any of the purposes described in Part III above. If appropriate, we may also pass on your personal data to financial crime prevention agencies, any legal, regulatory or government bodies.

Rest assured that, in sharing your Personal Data to any of the abovenamed, we will ensure that your rights are well protected and respected. We will also comply with the requirements of the DPA and other relevant rules and regulations.

Since our parent is located in Singapore and some of our subsidiaries and affiliates are located in countries other than the Philippines, we may process your personal data in a country other than the one in which you reside. To the extent we transfer your personal data, we will use appropriate safeguards and comply with the laws of the country to which your personal data is transferred. Details of the safeguards we use are available upon request.

  1. Right to be informed on the processing of your personal data;
  2. Right to object the processing or sharing of your personal data;
  3. Right to request access to the personal data that we have collected about you for the purposes
    of reviewing, modifying, or requesting deletion of the data;
  4. Right to request a copy of the personal data we have collected about you;
  5. Right to make changes with regard to any of your personal data;
  6. Right to suspend, withdraw or order the blocking, removal or destruction of your personal data
    from our system; and
  7. Right to be indemnified for any damages sustained due to inaccurate, incomplete, outdated,
    false, unlawfully obtained or unauthorized use of your personal data, considering any violation
    of your rights and freedoms as a data subject.

We will take reasonable steps to verify your identity before granting you access to your personal and/or sensitive information. We will make reasonable attempts to promptly investigate, comply with, or otherwise respond to your requests as may be required by applicable law. Depending upon the circumstances of the request, we may not be permitted to provide access to personal data or otherwise fully comply with your request if, by doing so, we would be violating some laws, rules, and regulations.

We reserve the right to charge an appropriate fee for complying with your request where allowed by applicable law, and/or to deny your requests where, in our discretion, they may be unfounded, excessive, or otherwise unacceptable under relevant laws.

We will retain your Personal Data either for as long as you are our customer or for a period of 5 years after the end of the customer relationship. Note that we may retain your Personal Data for a longer period if allowed or required by law or where it is necessary for us to do so (i.e. dispute resolution). After expiry of the retention period, we will securely destroy your personal information through shredding of physical records, deletion or anonymization of electronic data, or through such other means that would prevent further processing, unauthorized access, or disclosure to any other party.

In some instances (e.g. data analytics, research, historical and statistical analysis, management reporting), we will anonymize your information so that it can no longer be associated with you. We will retain your anonymized information as long as may be necessary.

We also strictly enforce and follow security procedures to ensure that your Personal Data is not modified, damaged or disclosed to a third party without your permission and to prevent unauthorized access. We have established and implemented various protection measures to secure your Personal Data, including but not limited to:

  1. Education, training, and management of our employees and personnel (confidentiality
    contractual obligations, conduct of internal trainings and awareness campaigns, certification
    and memberships in professional organizations);
  2. Conducting privacy impact assessments (periodically and for every change in our processing);
  3. Physical security (locked cabinets, restricted access to information processing facilities, clean desk policies);
  4. Network and Computer Securities (firewall, encryption, logical access controls, data loss
    prevention, malware management, log monitoring);
  5. Performing onsite and offsite backups of your Personal Data and the processing systems;
  6. Conducting vulnerability assessments and penetration testing for systems;
  7. Performing third party risk management (due diligence, contract, access management, audit); and
  8. Unless shared to our outsourced business processors, Group, distributors and authorized representatives, limiting the collection or recording of your Personal Data in our offices and making sure that the only persons granted access are those who need your Personal Data to fulfill their duties under contract

We may partner with ad networks and other ad serving providers (“Advertising Providers”) that serve ads on behalf of us and others on non-affiliated platforms. Some of those ads may be personalized, meaning that they are intended to be relevant to you based on your information. Advertising Providers collect information about your use of the website and other sites or apps over time, including information about relationships among different browsers and devices.

We may also work with third parties that collect data about your use of the website and other sites or apps over time for non-advertising purposes.
